Counseling and Health Services

As a student you may experience a range of issues that can cause barriers to learning. These might include strained relationships, anxiety, high levels of stress, alcohol/drug problems, feeling down or depressed, or loss of motivation. Counseling & Health Services is here to help with these or other issues you may experience. You can learn about the free, confidential mental health services available on campus by contacting Meg Pledl, Director of Counseling & Health Services at 414-382-6119 or meg.pledl@alverno.edu. In addition to our in-office services, all students can access a 24/7/365 support line at 833-434-1217 for anytime anywhere confidential support. Also, https://carelinealverno.com is a Wellness Hub that offers links to the CAREline, as well as access to free virtual or in-person counseling services.

24 hour emergency help is also available through the 24/7 National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK or suicidepreventionlifeline.org or by texting STEVE to the Textline at 7 4 1 7 4 1. IF you are experiencing a mental health emergency, you can call Milwaukee County Mental Health 24/7/365 Crisis Line at (414) 257-7222. If you would like to talk with someone on a Warm Line for extra support, or you need a referral to a social service such as a food pantry, emergency housing, assistance with a referral for addiction or detox, assistance with a domestic violence or sexual assault situation, or assistance with applying for financial assistance, you can call 2-1-1. They will direct you to the appropriate agency for urgent assistance.
